Ferrari 250 GTO

The Ferrari 250 GTO maybe argued as the finest built Ferrari that has ever driven on earth, even the best car in the world. So the question I should ask is? Why all the hype? Well when it was unveiled at the 1955 Paris motor show everyone gasped at the gorgeous lines and curves. It had a 3.0 litre 60 degree V12 engine that screamed at you and always loved to rev. It was styled by Sergio Scaglietti and chief engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. This car was the making of a true legend and deserves its place in history as a GT legend.

Car Specifications
The 250 GTO had a peach of an engine that roared every time you hit the throttle pedal. It had a 3.0 litre 60 degree naturally aspirated V12, with two valves per cylinder. On top of that it had six Weber DCN carburetors, which help the engine reach 302 bhp @ 7500rpm and 216 ft lbs @ 5500rpm. Because the 250 GTO had an all steel frame, and a light aluminum body, it helped the car have a power to weight ratio of 289 bhp per weight. This all contributed to the cars raw performance, it could hit 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds and then on to a top speed of 174 mph. Suspension wise the 250 GTO had double wishbones with coil springs and on the rear a live rear axle with dual watt linkage. It was low to the ground (49 inches) which gave it a low centre of gravity.
